This is a beginner-friendly wudu checklist. Details can differ between schools of thought—use this as a practical starting point and consult your local teacher for specifics.
Before you start
- Use clean water.
- Remove anything that blocks water from reaching skin (e.g. thick paint).
- Make intention in your heart.
Step-by-step
- Wash hands.
- Rinse mouth.
- Rinse nose (gently), then blow out.
- Wash face.
- Wash arms up to (and including) elbows.
- Wipe head.
- Wipe ears.
- Wash feet up to (and including) ankles.

- Don’t waste water.
- If you’re learning, focus on consistency over perfection.
