Salah Quickstart (Prayer)
A simple “what to do in the prayer” outline plus a checklist for beginners.
This is a practical outline for learning salah. Exact wording and details can differ across schools—learn from a trusted teacher and use this as a memory aid.
High-level structure (one rak‘ah)
- Stand: opening takbir, recite Al-Fatihah, then another surah/verses.
- Bow (ruku‘): glorify Allah.
- Stand: praise Allah.
- Prostrate (sujud): glorify Allah.
- Sit briefly.
- Second prostration.
Beginner checklist
- Know the prayer times for your area.
- Have wudu.
- Face the qiblah.
- Pray calmly—don’t rush.
If you’re new: learn Al-Fatihah first, then add small pieces over time.
